Der natürliche Farbstoff Indigo aus der ensprechenden Pflanze war lange Zeit ein wichtiges Färbemittel, und ist es immer noch - aber er wird mittlerweile synthetisch hergestellt: PP0067Indigo.pdf (Praktikumsprotokoll)
Azofarbstoffe haben viele Vorteile: leichte Synthese, intensive Farben,
Lichtechtheit, aber auch einen gravierenden Nachteil: viele gelten als krebserregend.
Ausnahmen sind einige wenige Lebensmittelfarbstoffe, die z.B. in Wasserspeiseeis
eingestzt werden.
